We have bought this amazing lot from Ndurutu washing station in Nyeri, Kenya. This washing station belongs to the Rutuma Cooperative, and Joel Kariuki and Jenniffer Muraga is the ones in running this washingstation. Since 1999, coffee has been processed consolidated with many farmers in the local area. Today about 520 farmers deliver their cherries here which makes up different lots processed here.
The specific lot we bought is a coffee dried in whole cherry on raised beds, they’ve used this sleeping bag like material to cover up the coffee cherries when the sun is too strong and hot, the same is done in the night when it’s too cold. This is intended to slow down the drying process and extended some of the fermentation happening. and giving a slower and better drying.
Consisting of the classic and excellent Kenyan varietals; Ruiru 11, SL 28, and SL 34 this coffee is everything you would expect and more. The black currant sweetness we all love and on top a delicate herbaceous character.
We roast this impressive lot with honor and we hope you enjoy slurping it.
Cheers!
