Alex is a 5th generation coffee farmer deep in the mountains in the Guatemalan region Atitlán, here he continues his families legacy by is producing excellent coffees on his farm Pampojilá. The farm is located on the side of the Atitlán Volcano. The magical environment around the farm nourishes and protects his coffee bushes of many beautiful varieties.

Alex likes modern approach to coffee processing, and the micro lot we bought from him is no exception. Picked from the coffee variety Caturra, this coffee was processed by an anaerobic fermentation in barrels and there after drying in cherry on raised beds and switched between covered and uncovered with this long “sleeping bag” it is done to protect the cherries from the temperatures if high stressing midday sun and cold nights.

To us this meticulous coffee expresses itself with characters of with a nice chocolaty body, orange wine and violet florality.
